The event which took place in Garun Mallam Local Government Area in the outskirts of Kano State, had in attendance the Governor of the state – Dr. Umar Ganduje, members of his cabinet, farmers and stakeholders in the wheat and milling sector.
In his remarks, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources. – Dr. Gawuna said that agriculture hds done great things for the people of Kano state and the state was prepared to invest more in the sector.
Speaking at the event, the Kano State Governor – Gov. Umar Ganduje said the state had engaged over 7,000 farmers in wheat production last year and went further to engage 10,000 farmers , recording a high degree of success.
Hon. Minister – Chief Audu Ogbeh who was elated by the success of the wheat programme in the state stated: “I see the wealth you are creating here with agriculture and I am very happy about that. With what Kano state is doing, agriculture is certainly working”.
Following the flag off, the Hon. Minister – Chief Audu Ogbeh also commissioned the Kano FADAMA tractorization project and a seed processing facility which has a capacity of 50 tonnes per day.
The Honourable Minister also made a stop at KASCO fertilizer blending plant, one of the local fertilizer blending plants located in the state and whose operation is facilitated by the Nigeria-Morocco fertilizer agreement.
After inspecting the facility, the Minister commended the management of the plant for excellent work and expressed happiness that farmers would now access fertilizer at affordable prices, stable quality and accurate weight.
This FG fertilizer initiative is working and we are proud of it; our farmers will now have access to affordable fertilizer with stable quality and accurate weight, Chief Ogbeh stated.
